• 5 tips you need to know about rubber rain boots daily maintainance

Newly purchased rain boots are always adorable. However, the rubber material needs a bit of care to keep its good looking and be functional. So after each wearing, remember to clean your rubber rain boots with the following tips.

    1. Outside cleaning: Always clean the outside of rubber rain boots with plain water after each wearing (try not to get the inside of rubber rain boots wet). In case there’s mud on the outside of rubber rain boots, brush it away gently by using a medium bristle brush. You might also need an old toothbrush to clean the threads along the rubber rain boots outsole. After all these jobs, wipe the rubber rain boots clean with a soft wet cloth (don’t use a hard or coarse cloth, which will scratch the surface of the rubber and leave markings) .

    2. Drying: The No. 1 rule is to keep the rubber rain boot away from direct heat or full sunshine. Rubber is sensitive to oxidation, sun exposure and high temperature, which can accelerate the aging of rubber and make them hard and brittle. In order to keep the rubber rain boots in good condition, remember to get them dry in air naturally.

    3. Stubborn stains: If a certain part is stained and can’t be cleaned by water or neutral detergent, mint oil might be helpful. Apply several drops of mint oil to the stained part, rotating it with your index finger, and then wipe it clean with a soft cloth (don’t use a hard or coarse cloth, which will scratch the surface of the rubber and leave markings). Remember to be gentle while wiping and keep an close eye on the stained part. If there’s no obvious improvement after wiping, just stop it immediately.

    4. Inside cleaning: Outside cleaning is for the good looking while inside cleaning is for our better health. After long time wearing, it’s unavoidable for the inside of rubber rain boots moisture and even smelly. However, never brush the inside of rubber rain boots clean or else the lining might fall off easily. The right way is to wipe down the entire interior of rubber rain boots with a soft wet cloth soaking in the neutral detergent in advance. And then use another piece of soft wet cloth (plain water only) to rinse away the detergent solution. Finally, always air dry.

    5. Storage: It is better to put some old newspapers into the rubber rain boots, then roll up an old magazine and insert it into the calf to keep your rain boots in shape. Finally wrap the rubber rain boots with paper or cloth, put them in a shoe box and store in a cool shade , dry place. If you don't use them for a long time, try to apply a thin layer of colorless shoe polish, wipe it off after 5 minutes, then put your lovely rubber rain boots into the shoe box.
